Sedex Supply Chain Awards

The Sedex Supply Chain Awards recognize and celebrate businesses, organizations, and individuals for their contributions and innovations in environmental and social responsibility within supply chains. As a flagship global award in the supply chain sector, the Sedex Awards particularly focus on local and multinational enterprises operating in China (including Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan), providing a platform for buyers, suppliers, and individuals to showcase best practices. The awards aim to set benchmarks in sustainable and responsible supply chain management, foster collaboration among stakeholders, and amplify positive impacts on sustainability at both corporate and individual levels.

The Environmental Contribution Award, for which Topcentral® has been shortlisted, recognizes outstanding efforts and innovations in environmental and social sustainability across supply chains. The evaluation criteria emphasize the integrated advancement of environmental benefits, social value, and governance capabilities through aligned sustainability or ESG strategies and goals:

1. Building a Circular Economy Closed Loop

Topcentral® continuously enhances recycling efficiency through technological innovation and optimized sorting processes, minimizing reliance on virgin plastics. This enables full lifecycle circular development across all products. As a result, carbon emissions per ton of recycled material in production are reduced by over 80% compared to virgin materials.

2. Establishing a Collaborative Recycling Network

Leveraging blockchain technology, Topcentral® has developed Beisu – a full-process digital traceability platform that ensures the origin of collected waste plastics is traceable and verifiable. This has led to the creation of a digitally intelligent, closed-loop innovation platform and management system covering the entire value chain: collection, transportation, treatment, recycling, and high-value utilization. By recycling waste plastics and other resources, along with eco-tourism initiatives, the project has generated revenue, created over 100 jobs, and increased annual income for fishermen by nearly 10,000 RMB.

3. Implementing a Full Lifecycle Traceability System

Digital technology plays a central role in Topcentral®'s innovative ecosystem. Utilizing IoT and blockchain, Topcentral® has built a fully visualized traceability system that embeds a "carbon label" into every end product. Consumers can scan a QR code to access the complete journey of the product—from ocean recovery to remanufacturing. To date, over 100 companies have joined this "from sea to shelf" transparent traceability system.

Topcentral®'s Founder and CEO, Ma Yiming, emphasized: "By integrating digital technologies, advanced materials, artificial intelligence, and digital platforms, we achieve integrated management of physical supply chains, full carbon data chains, and lifecycle traceability—ultimately enabling lifecycle carbon management and infinite recycling."

4. Alignment with National "14th Five-Year Plan for Circular Economy Development" on "Full-Chain Governance of Plastic Pollution"

To advance environmental sustainability, Topcentral® adheres to a "sustainability-first" business philosophy and has established five strategic development pillars: environmental protection and governance, resource recycling and reuse, technological innovation and support, public awareness and social engagement, and international cooperation and exchange.

Through the research and application of green, low-carbon, and eco-friendly materials, as well as conducting carbon inventories and carbon footprint certifications, Topcentral® achieves its environmental protection and carbon reduction goals. Innovative circular technologies enable functional, same-grade recycling of waste ocean plastics, establishing a circular economy model that transforms waste into valuable resources. This reduces oil extraction, reliance on virgin plastics, and environmental harm, promoting long-term environmental sustainability. The company’s intelligent, digital, closed-loop platform for the entire waste ocean plastic recycling chain allows participants to earn carbon credits by depositing waste plastics, which can be redeemed for rewards—encouraging public environmental stewardship.

Furthermore, by developing CBAM-integrated CCER/CER projects focused on ocean-based carbon reduction, Topcentral® collaborates with global authorities such as TUV, UL, and China's Standardization Administration to establish standards and solutions for closed-loop marine pollution control. This approach effectively addresses key challenges in marine plastic management: difficulty in collection, low recycling rates, and fragmented governance—establishing a healthy ecological cycle.

In response to the evolving global landscape of marine plastic waste management, Topcentral® is actively building a comprehensive marine waste cleanup system and pioneering a new model for ocean pollution control. Located in Fenghua District, which has 65 kilometers of coastline, 25 fishing ports, 963 registered fishing vessels, and nearly 10,000 fishery workers, the region faces significant pollution from white waste and discarded foam plastics due to fishing practices. This geographical and operational context inspired the creation of the "Ocean Partners" innovative ecological model.

The "Ocean Partners" initiative addresses challenges such as difficult waste collection and low recycling rates by integrating waste reduction, smart monitoring, and value-added utilization. It establishes a sustainable, long-term ecological value chain for the collection, transportation, sorting, recycling, deep processing, and high-value application of marine pollutants—improving the overall marine ecological environment. Piloted in 2023, the project has now been implemented for two years. To date, it has recovered over 1,600 tons of marine waste plastics and significant amounts of waste oil-water mixtures. Through deep processing and high-value applications, the project enables high-quality, full-chain utilization of recycled materials.

Since launching the first "Ocean Partners" eco-pod in 2023, 11 collection points have been deployed, covering coastal areas including Fenghua and Yinzhou in Ningbo, Ninghai, Cixi, Xiangshan, and Shengsi in Zhoushan. Recycled materials are processed into market-ready products, creating a closed-loop value chain. The project also integrates a "carbon credit" system with commercial innovation, converting plastic waste deposited by fishermen and citizens into digital points redeemable for goods. This creates an inclusive, participatory model for sustainable resource recycling and carbon neutrality, engaging all members of society and the ecosystem.

By linking ocean conservation with fishermen’s livelihoods, the initiative achieves a win-win outcome: increased income for fishermen and improved marine protection. It also drives green development and rural revitalization in coastal regions.

Topcentral®'s environmental initiatives have gained widespread recognition. In 2024, it was selected as one of Ningbo’s "Top Ten Green-Friendly Enterprises" by the municipal ecological environment authorities. In July of the same year, its "Ocean Partners" project won the "2025 ESG Outstanding Case Award" at the 4th International Green Zero Carbon Festival. Earlier, in 2022, Topcentral®'s project titled "Dual-Carbon Recyclable Technology Driving High-Value ABS Closed-Loop Breakthrough and Industrial Innovation in the Home Appliance Supply Chain" was selected as one of the "China-EU Demonstration Projects for Carbon Neutrality Innovation and Cooperation," becoming one of only 28 national demonstration projects. This project enables the efficient recycling and reuse of over 5,000 tons of waste ABS annually, reducing carbon emissions by more than 83.3%, and supports the home appliance industry in achieving million-ton-level carbon reduction targets.

From ocean waste to high-performance materials, a Chinese enterprise is transforming pollution control into a sustainable industrial chain through technological innovation. When fishermen redeem travel bags made from their collected plastic bottles using carbon credits, and when home appliance manufacturers use ocean-based recycled ABS to produce premium products, environmental protection ceases to be a cost—and becomes a value-driven engine of innovation.

With this Sedex nomination, Topcentral®'s next step is to integrate more "ocean DNA" into global supply chains—ensuring every product tells a story of transformation from pollution to renewal.
